About us

Introduction

The Local Government Development Center (LGDC) was established in May 1999 with the idea to follow on focus of the Local Self Government Assistance Center (LSGAC)as a not-for-profit, independent and non-political NGO. In 2008 LGDC has signed cooperation agreement with the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences Comenius University Bratislava, Institute of Public Policy and Economics.


Mission

„Local Government Development Center is a not-for-profit, non-political civic association aiming to contribute to democratic development of local self-government in Slovakia. Local Government Development Center supports professional development of individuals, building institutions of self-government professional associations and forming a system of education in the field of local government. “


Main Aims

  • Support and development of professional associations and local government representatives and employees through projects targeting institution building, training and education of their members and employees
  • Support and development of projects of mutual cooperation between professional local government associations in Slovakia and abroad, mutual exchange of experiences and knowledge
  • Full exploitation and development of the system of local government training initiated by the Local Self Government Development Center, which could eventually be developed into a complex university educational program for local government
